Healthy living is achieved where there is a
balance between emotional, physical and nutritional health. The importance
of diet and exercise cannot be over-emphasized.
Regular exercise is necessary for cardiovascular and respiratory
fitness, muscle and joint co-ordination, and mental well-being. To
lose weight through exercise, you need to get your pulse working at
30% or more above its normal resting rate, at least three times a
week for 40 minutes or longer.
A healthy, nutritionally balanced diet is vital, but don't get fooled
into trying fad diets. You'll lose plenty of water and protein, but
very little fat. In fact most diets are unsuccessful because the body's
metabolism goes into 'starvation mode', and as soon as a diet is started,
responds by selectively storing up fat as a potential energy source
for the impending famine! Research has also found that it is important
to watch and restrict fat grams as well as calorie intake.
There are actually two types of fat cells in the body. Subcutaneous
fat lies just under the skin and is more easily shifted. Deep fat,
or 'privileged fat', is much harder to get rid of. It only really
goes away under starvation conditions. Liposculpture can help rid
the body of these unwelcome pockets of fat. To
