Article 1: The Uninformed Pay Twice!

"The Uninformed Pay Twice!" It is well known in many industries that you get what you pay for. But did you know this also goes for cosmetic and plastic surgery treatments? Many patients think that a medical qualification means that someone is able to perform plastic and cosmetic surgery - but this is simply not the case.

Many doctors offering cosmetic surgery procedures advertise heavily, often offering what appear to be substantial discounts or making other special offers in their promotions. But what most people do not realise is that in some cases these doctors do not have the additional medical training or specialist qualifications in plastic surgery, therefore they may not have the same expertise to perform these procedures.

A recent survey of General Practitioners describe Plastic Surgeon as the “elite of elite of surgeons.*

Many people spend their money thinking they are going to get the best possible surgery and care, only to be left with a result they are less than happy with, or even outright unhappy in some cases. As a qualified Plastic Surgeon, I am often asked by these patients to review their surgery and fix the results they were unhappy with - resulting in them paying for their surgery twice. One example of this is those patients who come to me for secondary breast enlargement procedures. See article on <<Secondary Breast implantation>>

"The choices in Secondary Breast implant Surgery!"

The rising number of secondary breast enlargement procedures comes at a time when new technologies and techniques equip surgeons to perform breast augmentation more safely than ever before. While the surgical advances would suggest that fewer women should need revision surgery, unfortunately all too often the reverse is true: the increase in breast implant safety and popularity means that more surgeons are performing breast enlargement without the necessary level of surgical training.

Whilst many doctors perform breast augmentation, far fewer perform the corrective surgeries that can restore the breasts of women who have complications or who are not happy with the results of their breast surgery.

"The reason only a few surgeons perform secondary breast augmentation, in comparison to the large numbers of doctors offering primary breast augmentation is that many Doctors simply lack the skill and a surgical training to perform the more complicated, reconstructive-type work required in a revision procedure."

With secondary breast surgery Peter Dixon must improve patient's concerns of scarring, implant position, capsular contraction and other complications. To restores breast structure, creating the satisfying end result "Breast implant revision surgeries" call for superior and meticulous technique, our broad surgical exposure is brought into play!"

Secondary breast surgery is not an area where you can take a one-size-fits-all approach. In the vast majority of revision surgeries, I am correcting the work resulting from poor decisions prior to the surgery and these decisions are often compounded by poor technique.
Each woman's breasts and body require unique decisions. An understanding of what I call <<'The Golden Rules'>> and accurate implant sizing prior to the operation, results in a high percentage of women achieving desirable results. Respect for the healing process in the early weeks following the operation achieves long-term high levels of patient satisfaction. “Meeting the expectations is the most positive outcome for the patient."

In addition to surgery for unsatisfactory primary results, an increasing number of women are requiring replacement of their time expired older saline and silicone implants. Never before have there been so many options in the choice of the latest generation of silicone gel implants. Many women believe that these implants, which have now undergone over ten years safety testing, both look and feel akin to their natural breast tissue.

Women considering primary breast enlargement or a secondary procedure I recommend caution in your choice of surgeon. To achieve an outcome you can enjoy for many years to come, we recommend thorough research, speaking with past patients, and fully investigating a doctor’s surgical training and experience in performing breast implant surgery.

"Breast augmentation" is not only a medical decision - it is a personal one. Breast augmentation can make you look and feel better than ever before. When considering Breast enlargement understanding your choices in breast augmentation ensures good results."
