Calf Augmentation
The gym industry, and more specifically male
body builders, frequently request greater definition of the calf (and
pectoral) muscle area. Although they may have what is considered an
adequate muscle mass they lack the appropriate sculptured appearance.
This lack of definition occurs despite a rigorous exercise programme.
Plastic surgical has responded with calf implants. Today moderately
soft, anatomically shaped calf implants can be inserted via an incision
in the skin crease at the back of the knee.
It is usual to place two implants in each calf. Each of these implants
is to produce a visible fullness that mimics normal anatomy of he
calf area.
Once the procedure is completed and the areas healed, a remarkably
normal appearance can be achieved. The technique is useful in reconstruction
cases where the muscle has failed to develop or as a result of trauma
atrophied. Pectoral Augmentation
 Similar
type implants can be inserted into the pectoral area to enhance pectoral
muscle definition. In these cases soft implants are inserted through
an incision in the axillary area. These implants are placed under
the muscle and they are not readily visible or detectable by casual
palpation.
The desire for males to obtain improvement in their body image is
an increasing request to Dr Dixon. Males now are more likely to request
cosmetic surgery now than ever before. A small change or enhancement
can refine or define areas that create individual satisfaction and
reward. For more information
