Liposuction “Home Truths”
Body sculpting, or liposculpture, is particularly suited to people who are of relatively normal weight but have isolated pockets of fat that cause certain areas of their body to appear disproportionate.
There is one underlying principal….”It is not which machine or technique is used, but most important is the understanding that each figure has potential which the artist as surgeon can reveal.”
The most frequently treated areas in women are the abdomen, hips, thighs, and knees. In men, the love handles, abdomen, and enlarged male breasts (gynecomastia) are most often treated. Other areas treated in men include the arms, neck, and face.
There are many fallacies which some doctors or indeed dermatologists falsely promote.
Liposculpture is NO different from liposuction.
Liposuction can not shrink skin.
After the procedure there will be some softening of skin tension
Tumescent procedures are NOT safer than other techniques. In fact often your body is left medically vulnerable when you are out of medical observation!
An attending specialist anaesthetist can make your procedure more comfortable and better tolerated.
Day case liposuction procedures should be restricted to small volume procedures and limited areas.
An abdominoplasty will not reduce the fat thickness but does tighten skin.
The experience of your surgeon determines the quality of your result.
