Allergan has released its latest hyaluronic acid gel. The anti-wrinkle and facial filler is injected under your skin to smooth out wrinkles, facial lines, or scars. The same filler is also used for lip augmentation.

www.juvedermusa.com outlines the use of 2 products Ultra Ultra Plus and describes their indication for injection into the mid to deep dermis for “correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds). Side effects were usually mild to moderate lasting 7 days or less and included temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps.”

My personal experience with this filler is that it glides more easily from the syringe to the tissues than its competitor. I have found the injection well tolerated and the clinical results comparable with any of the other “off the shelf fillers.”

One indication that has found favour in the clinic is the enhancement of the cheek or malar area. As aging occurs this zone in particular becomes under filled creating a flat elongated aged appearance.
