Asian double eyelid

The almond shaped eye is seen as glamorous in Asian culture. Unfortunately a lack of the double eyelid occurs naturally in 50% of cases.
To achieve the double eyelid look a large number of young Asian men and women are undergoing plastic surgery to create the enhanced look of " Beauty."
At the 'Jewel clinic' we do not try to mimic the Caucasian or more correctly the Occidental eye appearance but support our patients who wish to retain their Asian features with the addition of an aesthetically pleasing Asian eyelid crease.
Interestingly independent of culture, an attractive upper eyelid typically lacks excessive skin and fat and possesses a natural defined crease. These characteristics makes the eye appear bigger, the universal signal of youth and attention.
A degree of exposed skin between the crease and the eyelashes allows for a more effective application of makeup and thus adds glamour
How
is the Aesthetic Result Determined?
Aesthetic options for shape and position of the upper eyelid crease should always be discussed in detail, and final decisions should be communicated clearly well in advance of surgery.
Surgical experience in conjunction with the
patient's wishes, will determine the final site and shape of the crease.
The level of the new skin fold is one of personal preference. How
much lid do you
think is attractive? Special suspension techniques are used to demonstrate
the result prior to your surgery. Surgical correction Surgical creation of the double eyelid is a procedure that is performed under local anaesthetic producing predictable controlled results.
The procedure of double eyelid glamorisation is quite different technically from a blepheroplasty in non-Asians.
In non Asians the procedure generally performed for lax tissues and requires reduction of tissues of the eyelid.
Whilst in Asian eyelid glamorizing procedures, minimal tissue is removed and a fold created at a predetermined height
